    Text Tech Grad Awarded Navy Commission

    James Malcolm Price of Follett, a 1956 graduate of Texas Tech, received his commission as ensign in the U.S. Navy at completion of an intensive 18-week course of study at the Navy's Officer Candidate School, Newport, R.I., March 1.

    Read Adm. Thomas H. Robbins Jr., president of the Naval War College at Newport, presented the certificate. Ensign Price was assigned to active duty aboard the USNS "Kelly" on a cruise to Newfoundland.

    Price, a journalism major, was on the advertising staff of the Avalanche-Journal in 1955. When in school he was president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon; vice president of Alpha Phi Omega, a member of Kappa Alpha Mu, Press Club, and business manager of the "Toreador," Tech student newspaper.

    He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Price of Perryton.
