							July the 1879

Dear Sister
I now seat myself to answer your letter which was received a short time ago, I was quite glad to get a letter from you. Well sister, all is well at this time and I truly hope when these few lines reaches you it will find you all enjoying the same blessing.
Well sister you know that I don't feel much like writing as I am in so much trouble but I will do the best I can. Oh, my troubles, my troubles, my dear and beloved husband was called from me six months ago and has gone to live with the4 angels above. Oh! There is no doubt but what he is in heaven. He is gone where there is no more sickness, sorrow, nor death, he is gone. The only one that I had to sympathize with me in my deepest distress is gone, gone, never to return, but thank good there is a day a coming that we will meet and there will be no more parting, and I will rejoice to see the time come then I will be out of all my troubles, for there is nothing but death that rid my sorrow.
Well sister I have seven little children to support and no one to help me. One of my boys can plow but he is going to school. I want to sent tehm to school all I can while they are yound. Well sister crops is my sorrow here it has not rained in so long that the crops has almost burnt up. My crop is not suffering so much for rain as others is in the neighborhood.
Well I will close as I have said I can think of. Write soon and often.
