James Malcolm (Mack) Price born in Oklahoma City in 1933. Mack was raised in Follett, Texas. He was the only child of Katie and Homer Price.

After graduating from Texas Tech University he logged dozens of Atlantic crossings as an officer in the US Navy. He always had stories to share from his years in the Navy, and especially his time aboard the USS O'Brien.

Mack taught High School in Lubbock and College in Stephenville after his discharge from active service by the US Navy. An opportunity to write for the Houston Post brought him to Houston in the mid 1960's.

He joined the PR Department of Trunkline Gas Company in 1966. His tenure with Trunkline/Panhandle Eastern included a few years in Wyoming before his retirement from the firm in 1989.

In 1993 Mack joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was awarded the Plaque of Merit by the Commandant US Coast Guard for his recue efforts during the San Jacinto River flood of 1994. He proudly served as Comander USCGAux Flotilla 68 and Vice Captain of Division 6.

Preceded in death by Debbie, his wife of nearly 30 years, Mack is survived by his daughters Leslie Price and Kathy Clerkley and grandsons Casey and Brandon Clerkley.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday December 20th, 3pm at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 12535 Perthshire Road, Houston Texas 77024.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mack's name to the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
