Father James Blackston Embry, b. 30 Nov 1837, Marshall, Alabama, United States
d. 16 Oct 1893, Waxahachie, Ellis, Texas, United States
(Age 55 years) Mother Martha Ann Sutton, b. 8 Jan 1842, Alabama, United States
d. 19 Mar 1893, Boise, Oldham, Texas, United States
(Age 51 years) Marriage 11 Mar 1863 Marshall, Alabama, United States
[2, 8] - Solemnized at the residence of James M. Sutton of Marshall County. Mr. Sutton was first thought to have been Martha's father, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Perhaps he was an uncle, perhaps he was the pastor in the area.
Justice of Peace Eli Campbell presiding. Co-signer on the marriage bond was a man named William Bondurant. Family Bible gives the marriage date of 12 March (1862, which is probably wrong). Possibly the bond and license were done on the 11th and the ceremony on the 12th. It was wartime, the first child came along only 5 months later.
