  Anecdote	Letter from Meridian Mississippi to "cousin" is possibly from one of Bat Roach and Josephine Murphy's children to Eunice. All that remains is the first page of this letter, mention is made of "Uncle Sam", as well as Katie and Clarine. Uncle Sam would be Samuel Scott Riffle, Eunice's father and uncle to the Roach children. Katie Riffle would, at this time, have been one year old, Clarine Roach would be similar in age. This letter would have been written shortly after the Civil War Soldiers reunion where S. S. Riffle met Bat Roach, his brother-in-law.
