    • She clearly had pride in her appearance as well as dignity, strength, and possibly some stubbornness well into old age. By the age of 90 she was living in a retirement home. She had the attendants take her to get a permanent, and was just being brought back to her room when her daughter Ethel came for a visit. Allie was worn out, but refused to go to bed - she didn't want to mess up her hair!
