TMG - The Master Genealogist

Resources - Genealogy

Mom started doing genealogy in 1975, all on paper. I inherited her research and started computerizing it in 1990 and oh my GOODNESS I can't imagine doing genealogy without a computer to keep track of everything!

Somewhere along the line I outgrew my original genealogy program and went looking around for one that would let me store ALL the information I found about someone - right or wrong. Folks all had multiple names, I had multiple sources for my information, suspected and conflicting birth dates, conflicting locations, lots of little factoids that I wanted to be able to categorize as something other than "miscellaneous." I wanted to be able to find stuff the way I wanted to find it, look at it the way I wanted to see it.

Much investigation led me to The Master Genealogist (TMG) by Wholly Genes Software. I've never regretted the decision.

The packages that are easy to use, easy to learn, and most popular were just not for me. I found them far too limiting. So I decided to sacrifice ease of use for flexibility. That's the trade-off we all have to make in pretty much everything we do.

TMG is the place where I store absolutely everything I know about everyone I may be related to. It resides on my computer here at home, and what you see on the web is extracted from it.
